I'm sorry to say this, but just in case anyone hasn't realised it yet... I've not used this account for a while (my last post was in fact March 2013) and I will most probably not use it (much) anymore. Most of my friends have moved to other sites and so have I. Nowadays you can find me most often at tumblr (link in the sidebar).

I will always treasure my time here and cherish all the memories and the friends that I had and made here, but I feel like I have moved on. Yes, it hurts, but that is life. My flist is pretty quiet these days and I can't see that changing anytime soon.

I will still come back from time to time and check you all, but I really can't say if that will even happen on a monthly basis. :(

Be well, all my lovelies!

Jenny
jejo763: (A cunning disguise)
I've spent quite a lot of time on Tumblr lately, because let's be serious Lj's been pretty dead for a couple of weeks (at least my flist). Been also practising my photoshop skills and thought I'd show you people here what I've produced. I'm quite proud about all of these, some more than others.

You can see more here in my Tumblr account

I hope all the best to every one of you and hope that you get what you want from this holiday season, be it presents, family or just some peace and quiet.
jejo763: (Gerberas)
YAY! I got my first holiday card of the year! Thank you [livejournal.com profile] treacle_tartlet for the fabulous cookie Christmas card! It really brightened my day!

Oh, and btw, if any of you are interested I still have few Christmas cards left and if you want one from me go leave your address here (the comments on that entry are screened).

RL still continues to slightly kick me in the head. I'm still unemployed, though the bright side is that I've actually been to three job interviews in two months! Three! *\o/* Before that the last one was in February. Yeah, the summer was really bad on the job front... Let's hope things'll continue to look a bit brighter.

Because I have lots of time on my hands (or at least most days) I've tried to come up with something to post here. I miss posting stuff and my RL issues are not that interesting that all of you would want to read about them all the time. I found this challenge today while browsing Tumblr and thought it looked pretty interesting.

9 day traveling challenge

  1. Which has been the best trip you had. Explain, post pictures, where you went, with who, etc.
  2. Have you ever traveled aboard? Post a picture of where have you traveled. If not, where would you like to go?
  3. Post a picture of your last trip.
  4. Worst trip you had? Why?
  5. Post a picture of any place you wished you could go, explain why you would like to go.
  6. 10 things you always take with you.
  7. 3 places you have gone to but can’t wait to go again.
  8. 2 places you hope you will never have to return to.
  9. Post a picture of any trip, explain when it was, where, with who.

WTF brain?

Things I've been thinking lately (don't ask why, my brain is a strange place):
  • If Tony Stark is genderbent, where is her arc reactor located? If above the tits: too high, too close to neck and too far a way to be effective to prevent the shrapnel entering her heart (as far as I know at least); if where it is on male Tony Stark, wouldn't that just push her tits away from each other and be extremely uncomfortable being the size it is...
  • It is said (at least in fanon) that Hulk's/Bruce Banner's bodily fluids are toxic/dangerous to others and having sex without condom is not advisable... So, where does that leave kissing?
Whew! Glad to have those of my chest...
jejo763: (Christmas)
Okay, people!

It's the time of the year when I start making holiday cards! So hands up (or comment rather) if you want one!

Please tell me your address in the comment, so that I know where to send the card. All comments are screened.

YAY!

:D

Look everyone what I got from [livejournal.com profile] khainir yesterday! My very own amigurumi Cthulhu! Eeeeeeee!

Bernard

You know that quote from Finding Nemo:

I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy. Come on, little Squishy. [stung by jellyfish] Ow! Bad Squishy, bad Squishy!

Well, I've decided I'm going to name my Cthulhu Bernard. Come on, little Bernard!

Also, look at it's little scarf! Isn't Bernard just the most awesome little amigurumi Cthulhu there ever was?

If I was a normal person I'd be all like:

Aww Yiss

because it's my birthday today, but I'm not (a normal person that is).

Still, happy birthday to me! I'm one step closer to 30 and I don't like that fact at all. Not one drop.

Anyway, I've been meaning to post for a while now. It's been ages since I've last posted. I'm still unemployed (boo!) with no end in sight. It's really difficult to get a job right now as I'm sure you all know. I've had nothing but time on my hands and I've spent it knitting.

[livejournal.com profile] khainir found me this wonderful pattern for these yoga socks that I absolutely love!

Yoga socks

That pic is from a magazine, but the end result is actually quite close. Please don't ask me for that pattern, because it's in Finnish and it's just too much work to try and translate it to English. Unless, of course you can read Finnish... ;)

I've started my X-mas gifts already and would love to post a picture of one of them, but I don't want [livejournal.com profile] khainir to find out what it is. Muahahahaaa! So, you all just have to wait after Christmas. I'm quite proud of my idea actually and would very much like to just post the picture and blurt out to her what she's gonna get as a present this year.

I've also started writing fanfic. I've written something every now and then for as long as I can remember, but before this year I've never actually posted them anywhere. So, I've got a separate LJ for my writing stuff, [livejournal.com profile] mywritingcabin. My master list consist at the moment of three drabbles (Glee) plus one almost finished Glee Kink Meme fill, that I'll post there once I've actually finished it. I've also got one unfinished Torchwood/The Avengers crossover fic that I intend to finish at some point. And hey, I got an invite to AO3 today; clearly they waited all this time just to give me one on my birthday! :D

Last, but definitely not the least, I've started Postcrossing. What is Postcrossing you ask? Well, according to their website:

"The goal of this project is to allow people to receive postcards from all over the world, for free. Well, almost free! The main idea is that: if you send a postcard, you will receive at least one back from a random Postcrosser from somewhere in the world."

So, to put it bluntly, I send a postcard somewhere in the world and after that's been received I get one in return, though not from the same person. I've been a member over six months now and received such beautiful postcards you'd never believe! (As of today, I've received 80 postcards all over the world.) I've always loved to receive postcards from friends when they're traveling and now I can get them from places I've never even dreamed of getting one before!

China
This one is from China.

Germany 2
This one came from Germany.

Malaysia
This one from Malaysia.

Portugal
This was sent to me from Portugal.

USA
And this one is from U.S.A.

Well, I think that's it for a while. I'll post more if I feel like I missed something important, but don't hold your breath. My updates are very irregular as I'm sure you all know.

Well, as I'm sure you all know I'm currently unemployed. That means I have plenty of time on my hands. Lately I've been using it sewing various things. I love sewing, it's very therapeutic to me (when all goes well that is) so I try to do it whenever I can.

I had this piece of fabric with paper cut-out dolls on it that I was desperate to use somewhere, but until recently I had no idea what to make of it. So bag it became.

I also made this pillowcase for my stepfather who likes Cars very much and has wanted this for some time now.

And last, but not least I have this unfinished project that I will finish tomorrow or day after tomorrow. When finished it will be a full skirt and when I find a proper petticoat it'll look even better.

I've actually always liked Franco-Belgian comics (you know, Asterix, Tintin and so on). I read plenty of those when I was a teen and I still love most of them.

I really liked Tintin comics when I was younger, nowadays not so much (if you've ever read those you'll know why). Hergé had a unique style and I appreciate it, but I won't most probably read those comics again. I also liked Goscinny-Uderzo comics; Asterix, Oumpah-pah, Lucky Luke, and Marsupilami (and Spirou and Fantasio) by Franquin plus Natacha by Waltéry.

But my favourite has to be Yoko Tsuno by Roger Leloup. According to Wikipedia (I'm lazy, sue me): "the series tell the adventures of Yoko Tsuno, a female electrical engineer of Japanese origin surrounded by her close friends, Vic Video and Pol Pitron. Their adventures bring them to, among other places, Belgium (Bruges), Germany, Scotland, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and also into outer space." They also travel in time. I mean really, what more do you want from a comic book?

(Also two posts in a single day, don't think this is a habit now!)

So, I was spending time and browsing icanhas.cheezburger.com as one does when one is bored and I found these two absolutely gems that I just couldn't not share you with you:

These amused me probably more than is healthy, but what the hell, I don't care!

I live in a pigsty. Naah, just kidding! But seriously, I'm generally not very tidy person. I'm not a slob, I just sometimes can't be bothered to spend time cleaning and tidying the place. I'd much rather spend the time doing something I enjoy, like read or go running or drink coffee or something. I think the best description of my flat is that it is an organized chaos. If I try to make it presentable I usually don't find anything for a while after. And I like the way it is.

Okay, if you want picture what my flat looks like think Penny's flat from The Big Bang Theory. Overall, they are very similar. Bright colours, studio apartment, Ikea furniture, you get the picture. I love bright colours, seriously. I have a cherry red sofa and a canary yellow lounge chair. Few of you might cringe at that but together they work (and they are not right side-by-side). I don't think I could live in a place where everything is beige or brown or some other muted colour.

One thing I'd really like to change/have is more closet space. At the moment it's abysmal. My clothes could really do with more space and I'd love to have a dish washer in the kitchen (Ihate doing the dishes by hand). But all in all, I kinda like where I live now. :)

I have been listening to music quite a bit lately. Few songs in particular caught my attention and sparked memories.

Music has always been very much like a soundtrack for me and my life. I always remember when I was reading Alexandre Dumas Sr.'s Three Musketeers and listening to Celine Dion's Let's Talk About Love (1997 was when I read it for the first time, I was fourteen). I still can listen to the album and remember exactly the bit I was reading at the time and vice versa. Music has always brought very strong associations in me and I kinda love it.

But sometimes it isn't as nice as I'd wanted it to be. There are two songs in particular, at least that I can think of right now (there must be more). I remember being in something like 7th grade and we were shown a video about drug use. I won't describe the particular bit that was shown at the moment, but it wasn't pretty. It was about satanism or something. *sigh* Of course they had to enhance the experience and add music. Namely Carmina Burana. I still can't listen to that song without associating it with drug use and that bit of the video. *shudder*

Also, when I was very little, I still don't know why, but for some inexplicable reason I was deathly afraid of the song Popcorn. You know, this one:

I really have no idea why, but I remember one instance when I heard the song come from the tv and running to my room and hiding in my bed beneath the plankets. I must've been something like four or five.

I still don't care for those two song very much even though I can appreciate them. I'm no longer afraid of Popcorn, it just never will be my favourite song (but I still think there's something sinister about it *shifty eyes*). And of course there are plenty of songs that I have positive associations with, more than that whole Celine Dion album, but it's usually the bad things that bring out the more violent reactions. Like hearing Carmina Burana today. It will always bring memories.

Whew! Glad to get that off my chest!

Okay, sometimes I feel extraordinary slow, because well, it took me this long to figure out why K-9 was named such... You know, the metal dog from Doctor Who.

The reason I was pondering about K-9 was because there was an article in the local paper about something called K-64 (don't ask me what it was, I didn't read the article) and a thought came to me that K-64 must be a new version of K-9. Then I started repeating K-9's name over and over in my head and realised that Kay Nine is almost like canine! Woah! So, yeah. I'm slow occasionally.

I'm visiting my parents this weekend (again, I've been here quite a lot this year) and there's so much more snow outside than where I live. Granted, I live in more south, but there's less than 100 km (about 60 miles) between us geographically. Very interesting.

I have quite infrequently posted this year here and it seems like that's not about to change. RL keeps throwing stuff at me and sometimes it takes time, too much time in fact. I'll try to post a bit more often than I have, but if you don't hear from me for a while don't worry, it's propably nothing serious. And of course, you can find me from twitter (handle same as here) where I post if not daily then at least weekly.
